Michael Hoffman

Michael E. Hoffman joined Stifel in 2014. Based out of the Baltimore office, Mr. Hoffman is a Managing Director and Group Head of the Diversified Industrials Research sector, covering Environmental Services. His past awards include ranking #2 in pollution control from Institutional Investor, Greenwich Associates, and Reuters. Mr. Hoffman has been an analyst for more than 29 years. He has been a director of research, president, chief operating officer of a broker-dealer, deputy director of research, head of fixed income research and group head of diversified industrial research, and head of global value research. Mr. Hoffman earned a B.S.E. from Widener University and an M.B.A. from the Johnson School at Cornell University. He is the 2001 owner/rider winner of the 105th Maryland Hunt Cup, an errant golfer and avid fly fisherman.


Jim Fish, President & Chief Executive Officer, Waste Management, Texas

Jim Fish

James (Jim) Fish, Jr., is president and chief executive officer for Waste Management. He is also a member of the Board of Directors. Prior to becoming CFO in 2012 and president and CFO in July 2016, he held several key positions with the company, including senior vice president for the company’s Eastern Group, area vice president for Pennsylvania and West Virginia, market area general manager for Massachusetts and Rhode Island, vice president of Price Management and director of financial Planning and Analysis. He joined Waste Management in 2001. Mr. Fish earned a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Arizona State University and a Master’s in Business Administration in finance from the University of Chicago. He also is a Certified Public Accountant. Before joining Waste Management, Mr. Fish held finance and revenue management positions at Westex, a Yellow-Roadway subsidiary; Trans World Airlines and America West Airlines. He began his professional career at KPMG Peat Marwick.

Steve Jones, Chief Executive Officer, Covanta Holding Corporation, New Jersey

Steve Jones

Steve Jones has been the chief executive officer and president of Covanta Holding Corporation since January 2015. He served as senior vice president and associate general counsel of Air Products & Chemicals, Inc., and served as its China president of strategic development. Mr. Jones served as senior vice president, general counsel, secretary and general manager of Tonnage Gases, Equipment and Energy and China President at Air Products Singapore Pte. Ltd. since 2007. He served as the vice president and general manager of Industrial Chemicals Division for Air Products & Chemicals Inc. since 2003. He had been responsible for the methylamines, higher amines and polyurethane intermediates businesses on a global basis. He joined Air Products as a lawyer in 1992 and served in the law group for several years. He served Air Products Energy and Process Industries Division as California area manager for Tonnage Gases, where he was responsible for its hydrogen activities on the West Coast. He has been a director at Covanta Holding Corporation since March 2015. He received a Bachelor’s degree in economics from Bloomsburg University, an M.B.A. with a concentration in finance from Temple University and a law degree in 1989 from the University of Pennsylvania. In 2007 he attended the Insead Advanced Management Program in Fontainebleau, France.

Sérgio Pedreiro, CEO, Estre Ambiental, Brazil

Sergio Pedreiro

Sérgio Pedreiro joined Estre Ambiental in 2011 as a Director and became CEO of Estre in 2015. Estre is the largest waste management and environment services company in Brazil and Latin America. Mr. Pedreiro has more than 20 years of experience in international finance and business administration. Prior to joining Estre, he was CFO of ALL, the largest publicly traded cargo railroad in Brazil and then of Coty, the global beauty company. Mr. Pedreiro also serves on the board of Advanced Disposal Inc. He started his career as business consultant at McKinsey & Company and as intern at Goldman Sachs. Mr. Pedreiro received his BSc in Aeronautical Engineering from ITA—Instituto Tecnologico de Aeronautica in Brazil, and a MBA from Stanford University.

Chen Xiaoping, CEO, China Everbright International Limited, China

Chen Xiaoping

Chen Xiaoping has been the Executive Director, CEO and the Chairman of the Management Committee of China Everbright International Limited (“CEIL”) since August 2001. He had been a Non-Executive Director & Chairman of China Everbright Water Limited (listed on SGX), and currently also serves as the Non-Executive Director & Chairman of China Everbright Greentech Limited (listed on HKSE). Prior to joining CEIL, he worked for The People’s Bank of China and China Everbright Bank, with rich experience and extensive knowledge in banking, capital markets and corporate governance. Mr. Chen was appointed as the international team leader for the development of the UNECE’s “People-first PPP in waste-to energy guideline” in 2016 and he was elected as the first Chair of WTERT-Asia in April 2017. Mr. Chen graduated from the Department of Finance of the Southwest University in Finance and Economics in the PRC. He finished the MBA class of the Research Institute of Business Management of Sichuan University, the PRC and holds a Master’s Degree with a major in Money & Banking from the Department of Finance and Trade of the China Research Institute of Social Science. Mr. Chen holds the title of Senior Economist and Certified Public Accountant in the PRC. He had been engaged as a researcher at the China International Economic Development Research Centre, and a guest researcher at Columbia University in the United State.
