Timothy Bouldry, Program Director, The ISWA Scholarship Programme

Timothy Bouldry

Timothy Bouldry’s internationally recognized photographs of dumpsites are from the perspective of informal recyclers. He has explored this topic in various parts of the world to expand his concept that instability can force communities to work at open dumpsites. His topics include families moving to dumps for work because of extreme poverty, war, indigenous tribe migration, corruption, governmental neglect, lack of funding, earthquakes, hurricanes and other natural disasters. He currently lives in Nicaragua, where he directs The ISWA Scholarship Programme that is supporting 47 children who were once working in child labor inside two trash dumps known as La Chureca and Nueva Vida.
