Awards Committee

Evaluates nominations and presents SWANA Excellence Award for “Integrated Solid Waste Management Systems”. Learn more about these awards.

The Division now presents a Distinguished Individual Achievement Award. The first award was presented in 2016 to Vance Kemler, City of Denton, Texas. The 2017 award was given to James D. Warner, Chief Executive Officer, Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority, Pennsylvania.

Candidates for the Distinguished Individual Achievement Award must be nominated by a SWANA Member. The nominee also must be a SWANA Member.

The Award will be presented at the Senior Executive Seminar in 2018, location to be determined.

Legislative and Regulatory Committee

Tracks current and pending legislation at the federal and state levels, providing comments and writing letters to elected officials in support of SWANA’s stance on key issues.

Program Committee

Develops and oversees the Division’s technical programs at WASTECON and the annual Senior Executive Seminar. Members also can serve as moderators for technical sessions and contribute to the topic and speaker selection process for SWANA’s regular Webinars.

Training Committee

Provides PM-related training and education through courses and publications, assuring program quality. Technical courses include:
