Sustainable Materials Management Distinguished Individual Achievement Award

In 2014, the Sustainable Materials Management Technical Division created a Distinguished Individual Achievement Award to recognize exceptional achievement in contributions to SWANA and the Technical Division.

The recipient of the award will be recognized during SWANA’s Road to Zero Waste Conference (as part of SWANApalooza).

Each year, SWANA’s Sustainable Materials Management Technical Division accepts nominations for a Distinguished Individual Achievement Award, to be presented at the annual Road to Zero Waste Conference. The Division is now accepting nominations for the 2019 award.

Deadline is December 17, 2018, at midnight Eastern time.

The Distinguished Individual Achievement Award recognizes a person who has made significant contributions to the sustainable materials management industry and has not yet received the award.

The Division’s Awards Committee will judge the nominations. The recipient (if any) will receive a trophy and free registration to SWANApalooza.

Candidates for the Distinguished Individual Achievement Award must be nominated by a SWANA Member. The nominee also must be a SWANA Member. Use the link below to download the Nomination Form and send it (as an attachment) using the subject line SMM DIAA nomination to techdivisions@swana.org by midnight Eastern time on December 17, 2018.

Call for Nominations: Division Hall of Fame

SWANA's Sustainable Materials Management Technical Division is now accepting nominations for inductees into the Hall of Fame. This award recognizes those who have made significant contributions to the industry. The Division’s Awards Committee will judge the nominations and select the inductee(s). The inductee(s) will be provided with a tangible award and recognized at SWANA's Road to Zero Waste conference in Boston in February 2019.

Candidates for the Hall Fame may be self-nominated or nominated by another person. The recommended time period for the work being considered is five years or more prior to the award year. The information required to be submitted with the nomination is:

  1. Name of nominee
  2. Professional title
  3. Organization nominee worked for at the time of the contributions being considered
  4. Time period being considered
  5. A brief description of what s/he did to merit inclusion (no more than 500 words)
  6. Indication of service as a SMM Technical Division Director or Committee Chair, if applicable
