Recycling and Disposal of Discarded Consumer Electronics

Publish Date: 2002

In 2001, the SWANA Applied Research Foundation (ARF) was formed through the vision and commitment of a group of founding Subscriber organizations. The primary goal of the SWANA ARF is to advance the state of the art of municipal solid waste management through the conduct of applied research on collectively defined topics that directly benefit ARF subscribers.

The 14-member governments and companies that joined the SWANA ARF Disposal Group selected the Bioreactor Landfill topic as their primary research interest. However, the Group identified two additional topics that were of sufficient interest to warrant the conduct of background research in an effort to document the state-of-the-art and current research activities. These two topics are:

  • Cost-Effectiveness of Processing Construction and Demolition Wastes and Markets for Recovered C&D Materials
  • Recycling and Disposal of Discarded Consumer Electronics.
