Wayman J. Pearson, Sr., Clearwater, FL, passed from life on Oct. 23, 2016.

Wayman was the retired Director of Environmental Services with the City of Charlotte, NC, and a former Superintendent of Solid Waste for the City of Clearwater, FL. He was a long-time SWANA member recalled with great appreciation and respect by many in the organization. “As a dedicated and wise public sector manager, Wayman represented the best of what SWANA and its members provide to our communities,” said Jeremy O’Brien, Director of SWANA’s Applied Research Foundation. “He will truly be missed and fondly remembered.”

Mr. Pearson was a native of Paxton, FL and grew up in Flowersville, FL, where he first received his Spiritual Education that he carried throughout his walk in life. He was taught by his grandmother to “always live your life so someone can have something good to say about you when you are gone.” That he did. Wayman served in many community service organizations, both in Charlotte and Clearwater, including the Willa Carson Health & Wellness Clinic (Past Board President), Board of Clearwater Neighbors (Board of Directors and Committee Chairperson), and NAACP Life Member. He was a member of the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Clearwater. Wayman was a U S Army Vietnam Veteran.

Wayman touched many lives, his legacy will live on, not only with his family but with so many more.
