Leslie Lukacs, Founder and Principal, L2 Environmental
Listen to this special, two part SWANA Webinar to learn from a Zero Waste Event expert all you need to know about composting and diverting materials at events of all sizes.
Composting at large venues and events can be a challenge, but with the right tools, planning, and staffing, you can successfully divert the majority of an event’s waste. Recycling can bring you to almost 50% diversion, but you need to add composting in order to reach the goal of diverting over 90% of discards. This webinar shows participants how to take the steps necessary to aim for a truly Zero Waste Event.
Part one of the webinar focused on planning steps, policy options, onsite logistics, equipment needs, common material types, and single use compostable products. The step-by-step process of developing a plan to be implemented at your next event is reviewed. This includes evaluating the event space, selecting service providers, and working with stakeholders, producers, sponsors, exhibitors and vendors. Organizing the volunteers and staff necessary to implement the plan is also discussed. Also, the messaging and logistics necessary to get the event members to act in ways that will support your zero waste efforts are explored.
The presenter of these webinars is Leslie Lukacs, the founder and principal of L2 Environmental, (L2). Leslie has over 15 years of experience providing sound environmental consulting services for both the private and public sectors.
