The SWANA Community
By: Darryl Walter, SWANA's Director of Membership
How many of you view SWANA as a community? Sure, we are an association, but more importantly we are a community. A community of over 10,000 solid waste and recycling professionals where we share ideas, learn from each other, and gather together.
The SWANA network of 47 chapters throughout the United States and Canada provides you an opportunity to get involved at the local level and stay up-to-date on local regulations. SWANA Chapters provide you many outstanding opportunities to forge lasting connections and friendships. Most of the SWANA Chapters have moved their live in-person events to virtual events. You can check out the SWANA Chapter event calendar here.
SWANA’s seven Technical Divisions offers you an opportunity to share ideas on critical topics which shape the future of the solid waste industry. When you want to find an expert on a specific issue, our Technical Divisions is the place to go.
One of the most valuable resources that SWANA provides for our members is MySWANA. This online community is the place to ask questions, share ideas, and network with your fellow members. In these trying times, this is THE PLACE for SWANA members to gather together. Another benefit of being a member of a Technical Division is that you also have access to that Technical Division’s forum on MySWANA. If you are a SWANA member and haven’t activated your MySWANA account, now is the time to do so.
If you are not a member of SWANA, I encourage you to join our community. If you are a member of our community, please renew your SWANA membership if you are in the renewal cycle.
