SWANA Membership

SWANA members are leaders, professionals, and stakeholders devoted to the robust delivery of solid waste, recycling, and resource management services, and to individually improve on their vital work and careers.

SWANA Chapters

The SWANA Chapter network consists of 47 chapters throughout North America. SWANA Chapters provide localized networking opportunities at the state/province level while keeping its members informed about the latest issues and trends in the industry and educating and advising local officials on industry issues.

Board of Directors

SWANA is governed by a 21-member Board of Directors (BOD) from across North America. This group is responsible for setting strategic direction and overseeing the association’s operations and policy positions. The BOD meets in person three times per year and holds regular conference calls.

Awards & Scholarships

SWANA awards program recognizes outstanding solid waste programs, facilities, and individuals that advance the practice of exemplary solid waste management. SWANA scholarship program prepares students to become the next generation of solid waste and recycling professionals.

SWANA Technical Divisions provide members with the most convenient methods to keep track of hot topics, connect with experts, and shape the future of solid waste management. Through SWANA technical divisions, members have access to valuable resources such as the electronic discussion forum.

Young Professionals (YPs) are SWANA members age 35 or younger. They represent the future of the solid waste and recycling industry.
