As we close another impactful year, it’s worth pausing to reflect on the benefits and value SWANA and its membership has delivered in 2025 to advance our mission in support of the waste and resource management industry.
Expanding Knowledge and Professional Development
Education remained at the heart of our efforts. SWANA offered 10 webinars in 2025; 7 were complimentary to members, relaying timely insights without added cost. In addition, members had at their fingertips at least 67 complimentary Applied Research Foundation (ARF) reports, including 3 new reports released in 2025, providing practical research to inform decision-making and improve operations.
Introducing RCon™: A New Era of Industry Collaboration
One of the year’s most exciting milestones was RCon™ 2025, SWANA’s new signature event experience. RCon brought together nearly 1,700 industry professionals, featured 211 leading suppliers, and offered more than 100 learning opportunities. SWANA members enjoyed exclusive savings on registration, reinforcing our commitment to delivering member value and fostering community.

Prioritizing Safety and Advocacy
Safety is non-negotiable. In 2025, SWANA delivered 52 Safety First newsletters directly to member inboxes, keeping safety top of mind every week. We also convened 22 Battery Workgroup and Subgroup meetings, addressing one of the most pressing challenges in waste management today.
Beyond safety, SWANA continued to advocate and engage on critical issues shaping our industry, including battery safety, heat safety, PFAS, waste-to-energy emissions, landfill emissions, recycling infrastructure, global plastic treaty negotiations, electronics recycling, textile recycling, biogas infrastructure, and more. Our voice in these conversations ensures that members’ interests are represented at every level.
