Mirka Januszkiewicz’s professional career has included working for the private sector as well as for two major municipalities within Ontario. Currently she is responsible for the delivery of all waste management services within the Region of Durham as well as being responsible for a $38 million (CDN) budget to provide services to more than 600,000 residents of Durham Region. Ms. Januszkiewicz’s recent accomplishments include obtaining the Environmental Assessment and Certificate of Approval to establish an energy-from-waste facility for Durham. Ms. Januszkiewicz also is responsible for the ongoing construction and subsequent operation of this facility. This will be the largest capital project ever undertaken by the Regional Municipality of Durham. Ms. Januszkiewicz is also recognized by many organizations for her efforts in waste diversion and promotion of the best practices in waste management. Ms. Januszkiewicz participates as a member in many waste management related committees and last year she was elected at large to be a member of the board of directors for the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers.
