Young Professionals

A Young Professional is defined as an individual in the solid waste industry 35 or younger. That's actual age, not just how you feel.

We are eager to offer advice, brainstorm ideas, develop solutions, and share in the struggles and triumphs of working in this business.

We are energetic. We are motivated. We are committed. We are the next generation of SWANA.

How Do I Get Involved Locally?

Recruitment, development and involvement of Young Professionals (YPs) are critical to the future of SWANA. That’s why SWANA developed a Regional Representative Initiative to foster YP participation at the local level through a team of regional reps and chapter liaisons.

Contact your regional rep to get in touch with your local YP chapter liaison or inquire about open leadership positions. For further assistance, contact the YP Program Manager, Shelby Truxon, at
