South Central Solid Waste Authority

SWANA awarded the 2018 Collection & Transfer Biggest Safety Improvement award to the South Central Solid Waste Authority for the city of Las Cruces and Doña Ana County, NM (SCSWA). After experiencing two fatalities and four OSHA inspections, SCSWA knew it needed to change its safety culture. Through efforts such as weekly tailgate trainings and a re-dedication to safety, SCSWA reduced its accidents, incidents, and worker comp claims by 80%.
