Silver Spring, MD – The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) is pleased to announce that its International Vice President, Brian Tippetts, has been invited to participate in the 2nd International Seminar on Waste Management in Mexico City on June 3-4, 2014.

Brian Tippetts has more than 30 years’ experience in solid waste management and has worked in the industry in both private and public sectors since the 1980s. A long time SWANA member, Tippets currently holds the position of International Vice President and has been nominated for election to the position of International President in August 2014.

Brian is a National Member Representative to the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) and serves on the ISWA General Assembly. Brian also held various professional positions including his previous position as a member of the state of Wisconsin’s Task Force on Waste Materials Recovery and Disposal and as a current member of the Editorial Advisory Board for MSW Management Magazine.

“Congratulations to Brian on this well-deserved recognition. I am sure he will provide an outstanding perspective on solid waste management accomplishments in North America,” said John H. Skinner, Ph.D. SWANA Executive Director and CEO.

The 2nd International Seminar on Waste Management is held by the Mexico City government in their efforts to manage the waste their city generates as a source of reuse, recovery and processing and power generation among other possibilities.

“The Government of Mexico City would like to thank Mr. Tippetts in advance for his participation that surely will enrich the analysis, evaluation and decision making in the solid waste management of our city.” said I.D.
