SWANA Partners with Blue Ridge Services, Inc.
To Offer New Landfill Safety Training Program

Silver Spring, MD – The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) is pleased to announce that it has partnered with Blue Ridge Services, Inc. and will now offer comprehensive video safety training for landfill workers and operators.

The new Landfill Safety Training Program has long been in the works with Blue Ridge Services, Inc. The waste facility engineering and consulting firm is owned and operated by recognized expert in landfill operations and design, Neal Bolton.

“In our many years of consulting at waste facilities around the world, we found that many facilities did not have consistent safety training resources that were designed specifically for waste facilities,” says Neal Bolton. “In response to that need, we created a comprehensive, nuts-and-bolts program based on our real world experience of working at and consulting for waste facilities. We are looking forward to expanding our reach through this partnership with SWANA.”

With safety being a growing concern in the solid waste industry, SWANA is placing a renewed emphasis and focus on safety. Employers have a responsibility to their employees, customers, and themselves to know safety hazards and how to protect against injury and damage.

“Safety training and awareness can greatly reduce injury to employees and members of the community,” said SWANA’s Director of Education and Training Programs, Patricia Timus.  “We’re very pleased to add high quality safety training designed specifically for landfills to our training curriculum through this partnership. We look forward to adding safety training for transfer stations in the future. ”

More than 70 landfill safety topics are covered in the video training program. Each topic includes an introduction, safety training, safety quiz, and summary. SWANA Members and Non-Members will have the option of purchasing courses individually or purchasing the Annual Safety Training subscription.
