SWANA Seeking ED/CEO Candidates

Silver Spring, MD – December 19, 2014

The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) is seeking a new Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer.

John H. Skinner, Ph.D. on December 15 announced his retirement as SWANA’s ED/CEO effective April 30, 2015, after more than 18 years leading the organization.

Copies of the vacancy announcement and eligibility statement (qualifications) are posted on SWANA’s Career Center for candidate use.  Resumes will be accepted from interested individuals through February 13, 2015, with the intention of filling the position by Skinner’s retirement date. “I have truly enjoyed working with SWANA’s members and staff throughout the years and believe we have taken the association to new heights together,” said Skinner. “I am stepping down from SWANA to focus my future activities on efforts to advance solid waste programs internationally.”

SWANA President Brian Tippetts said SWANA is seeking an experienced leader and manager with a background in the solid waste industry and the ability to build and grow working relationships for the Association and the industry.   The new ED/CEO will also take a lead in implementing SWANA’s new strategic plan, which is nearing completion.
