SWANA’s 2017 Scholarship Awards Program Open for Submissions
Silver Spring, MD– The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) is pleased to announce that its 2017 Grant H. Flint Scholarship Awards Program, established to promote education and professional development for the upcoming workforce, is open for submissions.
Initiated by SWANA’s Chapter Scholarship Committees, the Scholarship Program offers 3 awards categories for students of varying academic levels — Category I, Category II, and the Robert P. Stearns/ SCS Engineers Scholarship Award. Each award category has a different monetary scholarship amount.
“The commitment that SWANA and its members have for the Scholarship Awards Program is commendable,” stated Darryl Walter, SWANA’s Director of Membership. “This is one more way that SWANA is contributing to cultivating the next generation of professionals.”
Eligible candidates for the Scholarship Program must be sons, daughters, grandsons or granddaughters of a SWANA Member (sponsor), or SWANA Student Members.
In 2017, SWANA is offering free membership for full-time undergraduate and graduate college students, further showing the association’s commitment to the industry’s future workforce in the United States and Canada.
The deadline for submitting application materials for the 2017 Scholarship Program is May 1, 2017; International Scholarship Winners will be announced on August 1, 2017.
