SWANA Congratulates Adam Ortiz on Appointment as EPA Regional Administrator

Silver Spring, MD – The Solid Waste Association of North America's (SWANA) congratulates Adam Ortiz on his appointment by EPA Administrator Michael Regan as Region 3 Administrator. Ortiz is currently the Director of Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection, where he has served since 2019.

Ortiz is an active SWANA member and has led Montgomery County’s efforts to improve solid waste and recycling management in the county and combat Climate Change. He spoke at SWANA’s MRF Summit in November 2020 about how to reduce contamination in curbside recycling programs.

“We congratulate Adam on this prestigious appointment and wish him well in his new position. He has been a regional leader in the solid waste sector in the Washington, D.C. area for nearly a decade. We look forward to working with Adam and his team in Region 3 on waste and recycling issues,” stated David Biderman, SWANA’s Executive Director and CEO.

EPA Region 3 encompasses Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.
