SWANA Celebrates America Recycles Day with Special RCon™ Keynote

November 15, 2025 — Columbus, OH

The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) is proud to celebrate America Recycles Day, a day dedicated to promoting and advancing recycling in the United States.

SWANA recognizes America Recycles Day with a special RCon™ general session, Reshaping Tomorrow: The Future of Waste and Resource Management. The keynote, taking place during SWANA’s RCon in Columbus, Ohio, featured SWANA CEO, Amy Lestition Burke, MA, FASAE, CAE; the President and CEO of Keep America Beautiful, Jennifer Lawson; and Jeff Snyder, Senior Vice President Recycling & Sustainability, Rumpke. Their conversation explored how continued collaboration and technology is building a future where waste is a resource.

“This year, SWANA launched our inaugural RCon event during America Recycles Day week, culminating on November 15 with a visionary keynote on the future of resource management. By uniting committed individuals from across North America, we're not only celebrating recycling, we’re shaping the future of resource management together,” shared Lestition Burke.

SWANA is a proud supporter of a new bipartisan resolution designating November 15, 2025, as “America Recycles Day," as its most recent action to support recycling. SWANA has also recently advocated for and supported efforts that would advance recycling and composting, including the Cultivating Investment in Recycling and Circular Local Economies (CIRCLE) Act, the Recycling Infrastructure and Accessibility Act (RIAA), the Recycling and Composting Accountability Act (RCAA), and the ReMade in America Pledge.

"America Recycles Day honors the important role of recycling in building a more resilient and sustainable future. This is a year-round commitment for SWANA members who work every day to champion resource management, delivering tangible benefits for our communities and the environment,” continued Lestition Burke.
