Call Draws Impressive Candidates for Private Sector Delegates

Ballots to be distributed in mid-May will allow SWANA’s Private Sector and Small Business members to elect three professional services experts to SWANA’s Advisory Board.

The Advisory Board is a 62-member group (plus five SWANA officers in non-voting roles) tasked with representing SWANA’s diverse membership groups and providing advice and input to SWANA’s governing Board of Directors.

Six candidates expressed interest in the three open Private Sector Director (PSD) positions—one each representing those with expertise in the areas of solid waste law, materials recovery & diversion, and finance. To be eligible to serve as a PSD on the Advisory Board, applicants must be and remain an active private or small business member of SWANA working in some aspect of the area being represented. Private Sector Delegate – Solid Waste Management Law Practice (Legal)

Candidates in the area of Solid Waste Management Law Practice (Legal) are:

Incumbent Constance Hornig, Esquire, a long-time participant in SWANA’s governance boards, chose not to run again for the Legal position.

Private Sector Delegate – Financing of Solid Waste Management Systems (Finance)

Candidates for the Advisory Board seat representing Financing of Solid Waste Management Systems (Finance) are:

There is a single candidate for the Materials Recovery seat:

Ballots for the open Private Sector Delegate-Advisory Board seats will be emailed to all active private sector and small business members of SWANA May 21, with the election to remain open until June 9. Private and small business members who don’t receive a ballot on May 21 can email Deputy Executive Director Sara Bixby, beginning May 22 to receive an alternative ballot.
