SWANA Team Members Gather for Staff Retreat

On Tuesday, August 15, SWANA staff members from across the country came together for a summer staff retreat in Silver Spring, Maryland.

While most of SWANA’s team members live in the area, others are scattered across the country. This retreat allowed all SWANA employees to come together for a day of personal and professional development… and fun!

“We decided this was an excellent opportunity to get our team together and celebrate our successes as we prepare for all that is to come,” said Interim Executive Director/CEO Richard Yep.

The group took time to learn about and discuss communication skills, and explore organizational tools and strategies that can help everyone achieve success as a team.

The team also enjoyed treats, games, bonding activities, a group lunch, and finally a cooking class to round out the day.

“One of the four goals of SWANA’s Strategic Plan is to reframe the perception of our industry as employers of choice. That starts with our own team members who work diligently to help SWANA be the best association it can be,” Yep said.

SWANA team members will reunite at WASTECON^® 2023 taking place from September 27–29 in Boston, Massachusetts.
