It is with deep sadness that the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) recognizes the passing of Lanny M. Hickman, P.E., BCEE, the first SWANA CEO and president.

This new ARF report provides analysis of Seattle’s zero waste program initiatives on total and per-capita recycling and disposal rates for four primary waste generation groups.

The letter acknowledges grant funding is enabling communities to implement reduction, reuse, and recycling programs. SWANA encouraged the committee to take actions to support ongoing federal funding for this needed infrastructure.

Jeremy O’Brien joins NAS ad-hoc committee to examine operational and financial data from recycling programs for MSW across various levels of governance.

SWANA hosted its highly anticipated event, SOAR, held in Phoenix, Arizona from April 15–18, 2024.

SWANA supports the goal of addressing per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination and holding manufacturers accountable.
