The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing amendments to the new source performance standards (NSPS) and emission guidelines (EG) for large municipal solid waste (MSW) combustors. This would apply to units that have the capacity to combust more than 250 tons per day of municipal solid waste.
SWANA testified at the February 7 hearing and submitted testimony to speak to the important role that these facilities play in many waste management systems and to request an extension to the comment period. The extension request was denied by the EPA, keeping the current due date for comments on March 25.
SWANA is now working with impacted members to draft comments to submit to EPA before the March 25 deadline.
