SMM Technical Division's New Vice Director

The Sustainable Materials Management (SMM) Technical Division is pleased to announce the new Vice Director for the leadership committee is Gunther Wellenstein, the Solid Waste Manager for the City of Haverhill, MA. Gunther brings 15 years of solid waste experiences to the Vice Director role, with successful achievements in increased diversion participation. Additionally, Wellenstein implemented a source separated organics program. On the horizon, he is aspiring to develop an undergraduate class on Sustainable Materials Management in Modern Society.

“I am pleased to join the SMM TD as Vice Director! This summer marks my 15th year in the Municipal (Sustainable) Material Management field," said Wellenstein. "One of my primary interests is to improve career development opportunities for follow SMM professionals – including YP!”

It is with this experience that the Sustainable Materials Management Technical Division will be able to provide more meaningful content, and curate information.
