Transitioning From Landfill To Sustainability Campus

The LRSC will be the physical catalyst in driving and implementing programs and initiatives of the Climate Emergency for the City of Tucson. As Tucson develops a Zero Waste Plan for the community, the LRSC will be the foundational element to transform how we view waste from a liability to an asset.

Though much is recyclable, some materials don't easily fit within existing recycling and reuse programs, such as turbine blades and the durable mix of materials in solar panels (glass, polymerics, metals, adhesives, and cells). So how can communities handle large amounts of solar arrays and wind blades when it is time to dispose of them?
