Matt Stutz

Matt Stutz is a Professional Engineer with nearly three decades of experience specializing in the design, development, and optimization of landfill gas (LFG) collection, control, and energy recovery systems. Licensed in 17 states, he has led the engineering and construction of over 200 LFG systems across the United States, from conceptual layouts to final commissioning. His expertise includes system evaluations, design computations, technical specifications, and the integration of engineering with regulatory compliance. Professional experience includes serving as a former instructor at the Center for Environmental Research and Training at the University of Texas at Arlington. Mr. Stutz has played a pivotal role in landfill gas-to-energy (LFGTE) projects, performing emission modeling, inventory, and economic feasibility studies that have enabled successful conversions of landfill gas into renewable energy. Mr. Stutz’s work has supported multiple sustainability initiatives, helping clients integrate broader carbon-reduction and renewable-energy strategies. Mr. Stutz has extensive experience collaborating with local, state, and federal agencies to secure permits and ensure compliance with air quality and environmental regulations, including NSPS, Title V, and GHG reporting requirements. Recognized for his technical expertise, Mr. Stutz has presented nationally on LFG system design, energy recovery technologies, and regulatory impacts on landfill gas operations.
