AI vehicle camera safety systems are becoming increasingly commonplace in both municipalities and commercial fleets. Some of the more advanced platforms on the market can result in reductions in unsafe driving behavior of over 90%.

However, concerns around driver pushback and union acceptance are still a barrier to adoption of technology. In this two-part session, hear from Jim Higby, Motive’s Safety & Compliance Lead as he leads an educational segment on best practices for driver adoption. Drawing on his decades of experience as a safety manager at FedEx and Republic Services, Jim will provide a strategic framework for rolling out the platform, as well as practical tips to ensure your program is successful.

In the second half of the session, we will open up to a panel discussion and audience participation, where Joe Stead, Account Manager at Motive will lead a discussion with Brenda Haney, Director - City of Denton, TX, and Shaquawanna Carter, Assistant Director - City of Midland, TX, alongside Jim about their experiences in working with safety technology and how to get your drivers on your side.

During this session you will learn:

  • State of safety in 2025 for solid waste.
  • Using technology to reduce safety adverse behaviors.
  • Tips for success from practitioners.

This session is technology agnostic and will be beneficial to those using AI cameras as well as those who are considering the technology.
