Applications for SWANA’s annual Grant H. Flint Scholarship Awards Program must be submitted to chapter scholarship representatives for consideration no later than May 1.
Named for a Southern California Founding Chapter member who was a driving force in the formation of the Solid Waste Association of North America, the four SWANA scholarships distribute up to $20,000 a year to help offset college expenses. SWANA also administers the $5,000 Robert P. Stearns/SCS Engineers Scholarship, which is named for the co-founder of SCS Engineers.
Many SWANA chapters also provide local scholarships as well as sending nominees on to SWANA for consideration in the Grant H. Flint Scholarship Awards Program.
“Our members are in the forefront of changing the industry from managing waste to managing resources,” said SWANA Deputy Executive Director Sara Bixby. “It’s an exciting time to consider a career in some aspect of solid waste management and we hope these scholarships will encourage and support students along that path.”
There are three scholarship categories:
Applications must be submitted to the student or member’s Chapter Scholarship Representative no later than May 1, 2020. Note that some chapters may have earlier deadlines.
