SWANA’s new premier technical conference, SOAR, brings together professionals and experts from ALL disciplines of the resource management community, offering technical education, networking events, peer-to-peer learning, and actionable, fact-based solutions. It offers content tracks and symposiums specific to your technical division so you can leave with actionable solutions to put to work immediately in your own facilities.
SOAR opens with messages from SWANA leaders and a very special keynote presentation by Michael E. Hoffman to bring focus to critical themes influencing solid waste today. During the opening ceremonies, SWANA will be honoring a number of its technical division members for their distinguished service to the industry.
SWANA Technical Divisions (TD) are looking forward to meeting in person at SOAR. Whether you are currently a Technical Division member, or interested in learning more about SWANA’s Technical Divisions, you are encouraged to attend a TD meeting in person on Monday afternoon, March 21 at SOAR. For a complete list of Technical Division meetings, visit here.
SWANA’s Technical Divisions have designed a jam-packed schedule of technical sessions to enjoy at SOAR. The Collection and Transfer TD is tackling contracting challenges and looking for effective ways of addressing labor shortages. The Waste Conversion and Energy Recovery TD explores what to do when landfills are no longer ecologically and economically viable and innovative technologies for improved diversion of organic waste. Sustainable Materials Management TD dives into the US EPA's Recycling Framework with Nena Shaw as well as sharing best management practices for drop off programs and finding ways to reduce contamination in recycling programs.
The Landfill Management TD is hosting the PFAS Seminar in addition to a special ‘open mic’ session where you can share your tales from the landfill. The Landfill Gas and Biogas TD begins with the popular LFG Rules & Regulations Update and looks at technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
SOAR will provide you with many opportunities to make new connections and meet up with old friends. We’ll start off the week with a Networking Happy Hour hosted by the Technical Divisions. This event is open to all attendees, regardless of whether you are a member of a technical division. The Exhibit Hall will be open on Tuesday and Wednesday during the event where we will hold breaks and lunch during the day and our Exhibit Hall Reception on Tuesday evening. The Missouri and Kansas Chapters of SWANA will host a spectacular Networking Event in the Power & Light District in downtown Kansas City.
