At the core of every effective safety and health program is a systematic process for finding and fixing workplace hazards. Finding and fixing hazards in the workplace is an ongoing process that helps better identify and correct hazards before they cause injuries or illnesses so that workers go home, after every shift, safe and sound.

Accidents in the News

Through April 30

Troy, OH — A car stopped at a stop sign but failed to yield and pulled into the path of a garbage truck, killing an 8-year-old boy and injuring two others in the car. MORE

Huffman, TX — A woman died after driving her Jeep across the centerline and crashing head-on with a garbage truck. MORE

Summerfield, FL — At around 4:40 am, a 21-year-old pedestrian walking across a highway was struck and killed by a garbage truck. MORE

Poughkeepsie, NY — A garbage truck struck and killed a 72-year-old woman and her 3-year-old grandson. MORE

Findlay, OH — A 56-year-old maintenance technician was killed while working on a garbage truck when a damaged front arm fell and struck him. MORE

Cleveland, OH — A vehicle swerved into the lane of a garbage truck, forcing the driver to apply the brakes. The truck then lost control on the wet highway and went off the road, hitting a bridge abutment and killing the driver. MORE

Penticton, BC — A 52-year-old man sleeping in a dumpster died after being compacted by a recycling truck. MORE

Deland, FL — A 76-year-old motorcyclist died after crossing the centerline and colliding with a garbage truck that was stopped in the other lane. MORE

Hilliard, FL — A driver died after colliding with the back of a garbage truck that was stopped in the right lane. MORE

San Diego, CA – At around 6:35 am, a 24-year-old motorist died after driving into the back of a garbage truck. MORE
