September 10, 2020

The SWANA Young Professionals (YP) group continues to grow and expand across the country. SWANA YP members have been busy this past year speaking at SWANA events, leading teams, mentoring students and making strides in every aspect of the industry. With more than 1,000 YPs, their accomplishments are certainly something to be very proud of.

Meet Kyle Foreman, Sanitation Director for City of Fort Smith, AR

Kyle’s biggest accomplishment, second to becoming a father to two beautiful kids, is being promoted to Department Director in his early 30's. In his new role, Kyle is responsible for a +/- $16M budget, 90 employees, residential, commercial, & roll-off collection services, a class Y compost facility and a Class 1 landfill. He is also a State of Arkansas Master level landfill operator.

In addition, Kyle has been very active within SWANA as a YP member. He became “SWANA Certified” as a Manager of Collection Systems through SWANA’s certification program. He was also named Vice Director for the Collection & Transfer Technical Division. All in addition to being a panelist for SWANA sponsored webinars and moderator for sessions as both WASTECON and SWANAPalooza conferences.

When asked about his YP membership experience, he shares, “Joining SWANA as a YP was the best decision I ever made. I've made so many connections with not only other YP's but other incredible industry professionals. Everybody is always so nice and willing to give their time to talk, coach, mentor, etc. Without a doubt I wouldn't be where I am without the influence of SWANA and SWANA YP's.”
