SWANA’s exciting Manager of Landfill Operations (MOLO) program reflects what today’s managers of landfill operations need to know!

MOLO Body of Knowledge

SWANA’s MOLO program was built by industry experts with deep knowledge of the requirements of this critical industry role. The MOLO program sets out the core foundational, strategic, technical, and managerial knowledge and skills required of solid waste professionals in this position. These requirements are outlined in the MOLO Body of Knowledge, an industry resource individuals and employers alike can use to:

  • Assess their or their employees’ knowledge and skills
  • Identify areas requiring more training and experience
  • Build job descriptions

 

Course Modules

The course provides a comprehensive look at the field of landfill operations management—everything from the basics, to site and environmental management and monitoring, to landfill closure. Coupled with other educational resources, on-the-job training, and real-world experiences, SWANA’s MOLO-US Version program will help individuals prepare for SWANA certification in landfill operations.

SWANA’s MOLO-US Version program is available for delivery as an in-person, three-day learning experience consisting of 13 modules:

MOLO Certification

Passing a certification exam requires amassing knowledge, skills, and abilities over time from a variety of sources; no one course provides all of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to pass a certification exam. Knowledge is gained over time from years of experience in the field; online courses, webinars, and podcasts; in-person seminars and events; hands-on workshops; on-the-job training; local, regional, and national conferences; mentoring programs; trade publications; and more.
