SWANA Staff Connects in Alexandria

SWANA staff members from across the country gathered in Alexandria, Virginia for a staff retreat in mid-November.

The purpose was to participate in a Professional Development Day, interact with colleagues, hold team meetings and discussions, and introduce staff members in-person to Amy Lestition Burke, SWANA’s new Executive Director and CEO.

This retreat allowed all SWANA employees to come together for a day of professional development hosted by the one and only… Richard Yep!

The group learned about and discussed change management; diversity, equity, and inclusion; and more that can help the SWANA team achieve success. The team also enjoyed treats, activities, and a group dinner.

“One of the four goals of SWANA’s Strategic Plan is to reframe the perception of our industry as employers of choice. That starts with our own team members who work diligently to help SWANA be the best association it can be,” Yep said in a previous statement about a SWANA staff retreat.

SWANA team members will reunite again at SOAR 2024 taking place from April 15–18, 2024, in Phoenix, Arizona.
