SWANA Recycling Course Premiere Receives Strong Response

The Solid Waste Association of North America premiered its Manager of Recycling course in Portland, OR at its Winter Training Center Feb. 11-13, 2009. The first offering was attended by 40 students and the total training center attendance in Portland was 50% higher than last year’s event.

Initial response from the course has been very positive. Over 92% of course attendees felt the course was either excellent or very good at meeting their objectives and 100% of the survey respondents felt the course was valuable.

“The new updated SWANA Recycling Course was an in depth educational program that my staff and myself thoroughly enjoyed,” said Mike Tilley, Refuse Utility Manager for the City of Roseville, CA.. “The course was an A thru Z approach on Recycling Programs from planning, developing, collecting, processing, outreach, contracts, funding, quality, and finally health and safety.”

SWANA will next offer the course in Long Beach, CA at WASTECON 2009, Sept. 20-22. For more information on WASTECON, visit www.WASTECON.org or visit www.SWANA.org for additional course offerings.
