Private Sector Representatives Added

SWANA has added two industry leaders to its Advisory Board as representatives of the private sector.

Heidi Sanborn will represent Materials Recovery and Diversion.

Ms. Sanborn is the founder of the National Stewardship Action Council and has served as its Executive Director since 2015. Prior to that she was one of the two original co-directors of the California Product Stewardship Council.  She is an internationally recognized proponent of extended producer responsibility, sustainable recovery systems and the development of a circular economy.  Sanborn was also recently recognized as SWANA’s 2020 Lawrence Lecturer and will present her lecture in conjunction with the upcoming WASTECON.

David Kaminski, a senior vice president with QED Environmental Systems, Inc. will represent Sales.

Mr. Kaminski has worked in the waste industry for the past 36 years with emphasis in the areas of groundwater sampling systems and pumping systems for landfill leachate removal, landfill gas well dewatering, and groundwater remediation. He was elected chairman of SWANA’s Landfill Gas Extraction and Control Committee in 2012; joined the Steering Committee of the Landfill Gas & BioGas Technical Division in 2016 and in July 2020 began a two-year term as the Division’s Past Director. He has been a SWANA member for more than 10 years and is a frequent speaker and contributor.  In 2020, he was also recognized as a MSW Management Legacy Award winner.
