On May 19th, the 2023 Mid-Atlantic Regional Road-E-O took place at the Cecil County Solid Waste Management Division Central Landfill in Elkton, Maryland. This exciting event, sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA), provided operators of solid waste collection and landfill equipment an opportunity to showcase their skills while promoting safety in the industry.
The Road-E-O is a one-day event where contestants operate various types of solid waste collection trucks and landfill equipment on different courses in the field. They are evaluated based on their proficiency, with winners recognized for their exceptional performance. This friendly competition not only allows operators to showcase their abilities but also provides a platform for networking with operators from other companies and entities in the region.
This event united neighboring chapters from Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, fostering collaboration and camaraderie among waste management professionals in the region. The Cecil County Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Management Division, graciously hosted the event at their Central Landfill, providing an ideal location for all Road-E-O activities, including the truck course competition and meals.
