Distinguished Individual Achievement Awards
The annual Distinguished Individual Achievement Award (DIAA) recognizes efforts on behalf of individual SWANA members for service to the Technical Division, and support of the mission of SWANA to advance the practice of MSW management and overall long-term service to the solid waste management industry. The recipient of the award will be recognized during the annual SOAR conference.
Award winners will be selected by the division Awards Committee. The following will be taken into consideration during the selection process:
- Service to the Technical Division: Nominee is a current member of the Technical Division. Has served in one or more leadership positions in the division. Has actively participated in division committees.
- Support of SWANA Mission: Nominee is an active member of his/her/their chapter and may have served on the SWANA Board of Director, Advisory Board, or other national or chapter committees.
- Contributions to the Solid Waste Management Field and Other Factors: Nominee work includes active roles and responsibilities in this sector of solid waste management and demonstrates strong character though his/her/their activities throughout the industry.
Collection & Transfer Distinguished Individual Achievement Award
The Collection & Transfer Distinguished Individual Achievement Award recognizes efforts on behalf of individual SWANA members for service to the technical division, support of the mission of SWANA to advance the practice of solid waste collection and transfer, and overall long-term service to the solid waste management industry.
Communication, Education & Marketing Distinguished Individual Achievement Award
The Communication, Education & Marketing Distinguished Individual Achievement Award recognizes efforts by individual SWANA members for service to the Communication, Education & Marketing Technical Division, supporting the mission of SWANA to advance the practice of effective communication, education, and marketing to the solid waste management industry.
Landfill Gas & Biogas Distinguished Individual Achievement Award
The Landfill Gas & Biogas Distinguished Individual Achievement Award recognizes efforts on behalf of individual SWANA members for service to the Landfill Gas and Biogas (LGB) Technical Division, service to employers, support of the mission of SWANA to advance the practice of converting waste to a resource, as well as overall long-term service to the landfill gas and biogas industry.
Landfill Management Distinguished Individual Achievement Award
The Landfill Distinguished Individual Achievement Award recognizes efforts by individual SWANA members for service to the Landfill Management Technical Division, support of the mission of SWANA to advance best practices for landfills, and overall long-term service to the solid waste management industry.
Planning & Management Distinguished Individual Achievement Award
The Planning & Management Distinguished Individual Achievement Award recognizes efforts by individual SWANA members for service to the Planning & Management Technical Division, support of the mission of SWANA to advance the practice of municipal solid waste management, and overall long-term service to the solid waste management industry.
Sustainable Materials Management Distinguished Individual Achievement Award
The Sustainable Materials Management Technical Division Distinguished Individual Achievement Award recognizes efforts on behalf of individual SWANA members for service to the Sustainable Materials Management Technical Division, support of the mission of SWANA to advance the practice of municipal solid waste management, and overall long-term service to the solid waste management industry.
Waste Conversion & Energy Recovery Distinguished Individual Achievement Award
The Waste Conversion & Energy Recovery Trailblazer Distinguished Individual Achievement Award recognizes excellence in the design, management and operations of projects that produce renewable energy from solid waste, whether through direct combustion or through other methods.
