ISWA World Congress and WASTECON® to be co-located in 2017
Silver Spring, MD – The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA)’s Executive Director and CEO, David Biderman, Deputy Executive Director, Meri Beth Wojtaszek, International Board President, Michelle Leonard, and two members of its Young Professionals group are in Antwerp, Belgium, this week representing North America at the International Solid Waste Association’s (ISWA) World Congress.
Founded in 1970, ISWA is the only global, independent, non-profit association promoting sustainable, comprehensive and professional waste management.
The ISWA 2015 World Congress taking place from September 7-9, 2015, at the Antwerp City Theatre, aims to explore the Global Waste Management Outlook. Members of ISWA and waste leaders from all over the world have gathered to discuss the industry’s most pressing issues.
“It is an honor to represent the United States and Canada at this important international event and learn about association management and waste issues from my global counterparts,” said SWANA Executive Director and CEO, David Biderman.
In September 2014, SWANA was chosen to host the 2017 ISWA World Congress in conjunction with its annual conference, WASTECON, in Baltimore.
SWANA’s International Board President, Michelle Leonard, said, “I am very excited to have the opportunity to participate in this conference to learn about innovative policies, programs and facilities and to establish relationships with solid waste professionals from around the globe. We look forward to hosting this event in Baltimore, in conjunction with WASTECON, in 2017."
