Interest in the moisture content of MSW has been rekindled with the growth in the number of leachate recirculation landfills and the development of the bioreactor landfill alternative. While methods exist to measure the moisture content of the waste before it is disposed, there is now a need to measure changes in the moisture content of waste after it is place in the landfill. This report compares direct and indirect measuring methods. It also reviews current literature on the subject and offers conclusions.
