This is the second version of SWANA’s Construction Specifications for Landfill Gas Conveyance Systems. The original version was published in October 1994, and is superseded by this document. The Extraction and Control Subcommittee of SWANA’s Landfill Gas Division prepared this document with assistance from a number of reviewers, who are acknowledged on a following page.

The intention of this document is to provide a guide for the development of projectspecific specifications for the construction of landfill gas (LFG) collection and conveyance systems. The specifications are organized in The Construction Specifications Institute’s pre-2004 three part format, which includes Section 1, General; Section 2, Products; and Section 3, Execution. Additionally, The Construction Specifications Institute’s 2004 Master Format section numbers are included parenthetically after the section numbers as a cross reference. The specifications include “notes to specifiers” provided in bold font. These should all be removed from the final versions of project-specific specifications. The notes to specifiers are intended to provide instructions or insight to specific portions or requirements of the specifications.

Many parts of the specifications include options that are delineated between a pair of forward slashes (“//”). The specifier is required to choose the option appropriate for the project. There should be no pairs of forward slashes in a set of project-specific specifications developed from this document. The specifier is responsible for using appropriate judgment when developing projectspecific specifications from this guidance document. Projects may have additional requirements beyond those anticipated by the specifications contained herein.
