Private Sector Delegate for Sales Position Available on the SWANA Advisory Board

SWANA seeks a private member to serve as a Private Sector Delegate (PSD) representing the Sales sector on its Advisory Board through June 30, 2021.

To be eligible to serve as a PSD, applicants must be and remain an active private or small business member of SWANA working in some aspect of sales of solid waste management equipment and systems. To apply, send a short email expressing interest and qualifications along with a resume to SWANA Deputy Executive Director Sara Bixby, sbixby@swana.org, no later than July 15, 2020.

The person selected for this position will complete the term of a delegate who had to step away due to work purposes.

The SWANA Advisory Board has seats for seven Private Sector Delegates representing specific areas of interest [finance, services, consulting, sales, manufacturing, legal and materials recovery and diversion] on the Advisory Board. Private Sector Delegates are tasked with helping SWANA’s governance maintain a balanced view of the various approaches to and aspects of municipal solid waste management. 

Duties of the Private Sector Delegate include:

  • Serve on one of SWANA’s three standing committees – Finance, Membership/Planning and Policy. These meet two to three times a year by telephone and once a year in person at the annual meeting.
  • Serve on other organization committees as appointed by the President
  • Participate in special-interest committees and working groups to advance the practice and positions of the industry and Association. In FY2021, SWANA will be working on its next five-year strategic plan so a number of calls will be required as will participation in a workshop the weekend before WASTECON-Dallas.
  • Participate in calls arranged by the Private Sector Director serving on the SWANA Board of Directors
  • Attend the annual Advisory Board meeting, typically held in conjunction with WASTECON each year, to provide input on matters of importance to the Association. The 2020 annual meeting will be held in December at WASTECON – Dallas.
  • Attend other meetings of the Advisory Board as called by the President and Advisory Board Chair.
