Best Practices: Using Apps & Online Tools to Meet your Goals

Additional Information:

David Eaves, Co-Founder, ReCollect Systems and Digital Government Expert

Solid waste departments generally share two goals: increasing their diversion rates, and, reducing costs associated with educating customers or responding to their complaints or requests. These goals have, in recent years, been made more complicated with the explosion of social media, smartphones and online tools that undermine traditional ways of connecting with customers, such as through print calendars, radio ads, print ads and mailers.

In this webinar, David will share best practices on using digital tools such as websites, Twitter, smartphone apps and email lists for waste communications. Drawing on his experience working with 50+ cities and other governments, David will present some best practices from across North America. Several different case studies will be presented in order to share best practices - what works, what doesn't, and how to determine the best option for your city. Specifically he will talk about how digital tools cannot only help educate residents, but can also help you and your organization get smarter, faster, as well as enable you to continuously improve communications with customers.

Participants will gain valuable insight into the types of technologies available and how other cities have used these to improve communications. Following the webinar, participants will be able to identify and explain the pros and cons of different solutions and will be well prepared to embark on an investigation or evaluation for their city.
