EPA to Host Webinar on Safe Collection, Storage, and Transport of Small-Format Batteries

The US EPA is hosting a virtual meeting on May 14, 2024, to seek stakeholder feedback on current practices for safe collection, storage, and transport of small format batteries prior to recycling.

Safe handling of lithium-ion batteries is a key issue for SWANA, as they pose a fire risk when incorrectly disposed. The panel discussion held at SOAR on this topic highlighted solutions at work and how SWANA members can take action to prevent fires caused by lithium-ion batteries.
