Tim Flanagan, President, SWANA Board of Directors

As many of you are aware, on March 13, former SWANA CEO, David Biderman, left the organization.

With an evolving industry and changing vision, it is an opportune time for SWANA to embrace new leadership to guide us toward achieving the four goals in our new Forward, Together Strategic Plan for 2023–2027.

To this end, we have hired an executive recruitment firm to identify an Interim CEO. We look forward to welcoming the Interim within the next three–four weeks.

The Interim will help us bridge the gap between David’s departure and hiring a permanent CEO. Our hope is to have our new CEO selected before WASTECON in September, but we are taking our time and not rushing the process.

The Board of Directors would like to thank SWANA staff for their many contributions and efforts in keeping the SWANA organization going, sustaining our industry presence, and advancing and evolving our organization. We appreciate their efforts.

We will be looking to bringing you a few more new voices from staff and Board members in the upcoming months in this newsletter.

I look forward to seeing you at SOAR in Atlanta, April 17–20.
