SWANA Remembers: Robert J. “Bob” Schoenberger

Robert J. “Bob” Schoenberger, Ph.D., P.E., 83, of Downingtown, passed away on Monday, April 12, 2021, after a brief illness.

Robert attended the Drexel Institute of Technology (now University) where he earned his bachelors, masters, and Ph.D. in civil and environmental engineering. Dr. Schoenberger served as an associate professor at Drexel before transitioning to full-time private environmental consulting, first at Roy F. Weston, where he was a vice president, and later as an independent consultant, dealing with solid and hazardous waste issues.

In his semi-retirement, Dr. Schoenberger joined the board of the Chester County Solid Waste Authority, of which he has been the longtime chair. He was also active in professional societies at the local and national level including the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists, and the Solid Waste Association of North America.

A Funeral Service was held on Friday, April 16, 2021 at James J. Terry Funeral Home.
