Prevent Heat Illness at Work Now Available in Nine Languages

OSHA’s publication, Prevent Heat Illness at Work, is now available in nine different languages. This colorful pamphlet offers simple suggestions on how to protect yourself and others from heat stress hazards and how to recognize and respond to heat illness.

Members Invited to SWANA Strategic Plan Town Hall – Goal 1

Throughout 2023, SWANA will be holding virtual Town Halls on each of the 4 goals in its five-year Strategic Plan – Forward, Together. The first Town Hall on March 23 will address Goal 1, “To Get Off the Top 10 List of Most Dangerous Jobs”. SWANA members are invited to join this webinar to learn more about how this goal was chosen and the ways that the association plans to achieve it over the next five years.

OSHA Rulemaking Webpage Updated

OSHA has updated its Laws and Regulations webpage to make it easier for stakeholders to find out about the current status of rules. Under the third column, “Rulemaking,” there is now a list of several regulatory project webpages condensed into one location and links to important documents and locations like the docket for a particular project. The very last item in the third column, OSHA Rulemaking Process, now has content explaining to stakeholders how and when they can participate in the rulemaking process.

Through 2/28/23

Paterson, NJ – A worker at a transfer station was killed when he was struck by a truck. MORE

Mangilao, GU – A man driving a Nissan Pathfinder was killed when his vehicle collided with a garbage truck. MORE

Erie, PA – A garbage truck driver that was on top of his vehicle fatally impaled himself on a metal plow stake while getting down. MORE

Mineola, TX – An 82-year-old man died when his pickup crashed into the back of a garbage truck. MORE

Genesee Township, MI – A garbage truck crossed the center lane and crashed into a Jeep Wrangler and then into a utility pole, killing the truck driver. He may have been experiencing a medical emergency at the time. MORE

Brentwood, NY – A person suspected of driving while intoxicated tried to make a left turn at 4:30 am, striking a garbage truck and killing a 30-year-old passenger in the car. MORE
